I wont blame my mother

for she did not start this

I do not know whose mother did

But it was not my mother

She just followed what she was told

and taught me what she had learnt

It was not her who said

A woman would not be complete

Until she finds her ‘Better’ half

NO

It was not her

who said women should not be

outside till late

that women should not be loud

that grace is when you smile in discomfort

Sometimes I see her wondering

what would have happened

if she ended it

Not that she is not loved

Not that she is not adored

she is

Sincerely

but

ย She also wonders

What would have happened

If she had questioned

Her mother

I see it

She does not say a word

But I get it

Her idea of safety

is companionship

That is my idea of confusion

Her idea of achievement

is land and gold

but I do not believe

In things that I am told

I do beleive in What I feel

but I am a lost soul myself

It was not my mother

Who started the unwritten list

ย of ”what a girl should be”

So I do not blame her

For the things she says to me

If I ever continue

In this human race

I want my daughter

To be writing this

that It was not her mother who started this

but

It was her mother who ended it

That she spoke

things that were simple

but changed

the way people looked

at

daughters

My god I take it back, you look EXACTLY like your mom. So much so that I thought you were holding your own child who happened to look just like you… This was nice
